Hakuin Ekaku
Hakuin Ekaku (1685-1768) was a monk of Rinzai sect. At the age of 34, he became “Shuso”(leader) of a temple in Kyoto, and revived Rinzai sect in depression. His dynamic and humorous calligraphy is highly appraised.
