Kobayashi Kokei (1883-1957) was a Japanese-style painter from Nigata. After having learned from Kajita Hanko, he flied over to Europe where he mastered the technique of the line drawing, with which he produced the representative work “Kami” in 1931. His painting is widely known for its pure and noble style.
