Kosugi Hoan (1881-1964) was a Western-style painter and Japanese-style-painter. Although he was initially active as a Western style painter in the name of Misei, he gradually changed to Japanese-style painting and renewed his name to Hoan. In his later years, he lived in a mountain village and produced artworks with resonance.
