Togo Seiji (1897-1978) was a Western-style painter from Kagoshima, he studied under Arishima Ikuma. He had already displayed his great ability in middle school, his first solo viewing already drew people's attention. Although taking part in the Avant-garde movement during his study in Europe, he later converted to figurative artworks.
