Maruyama Okyo (1733-1795) was a late-Edo painter, who learnt Kano School painting from Ishida Yutei. On the basis of Yutei’s realistic painting technique, he established his fame by taking in painting styles in the Sung and Yuan dynasties and studying European perspective.
